India/Denmark - Social Security Totalisation Agreement |

A Social Security Totalisation Agreement was signed between India and Denmark on 17th February 2010, although the date it enters into force has yet to be confirmed.
Under the agreement, an assignee normally employed in India by an Indian employer shall be subject to only the Indian social security legislation during a period of secondment to Denmark provided that the period of employment there is not expected to exceed five years.
In the context of a Danish employee who is on an assignment in India, the individual shall only be subject to the social security legislatin of Denmark as if he/she was employed and resident in Denmark, provided the period of employment in India is not expected to exceed three years.
The Central Government of India has declared 8.5% per annum as the rate of interest for Provident Fund member accounts for the financial year 2009/10.
Where an assignment occurs between the two countries and an individual remains liable to home country social security whilst on assignment then a Certificate of Coverage should be obtained.
