The Portuguese government has announced that the local non-EU local hires quota for 2009 will be significantly reduced.

The quota for 2009 is 3,800 spaces, reduced from 10,800 in 2008).

The quota only applies to non-EU local hires who are employed on Portuguese payroll. If an assignees remains on the home payroll they are not included within the quota.
